Dermaplaning in Carmel-by-the-Sea Signature Day Spa

Licensed Estheticians · Professional-Grade Results · Zero Downtime

Dermaplaning is one of the fastest-growing skincare treatments in the country — and for good reason. The results are immediate, the experience is comfortable, and there’s zero downtime. But here’s what the TikTok tutorials won’t tell you: when it goes wrong, it goes wrong fast. Attempting dermaplaning at home with drugstore tools is one of the most common causes of breakouts and skin irritation we see clients trying to recover from. The difference between a DIY attempt and a professional treatment at Signature Day Spa isn’t just technique — it’s the experience, the sterile surgical-grade tools, and the trained eyes of a licensed esthetician who knows your skin before the blade ever touches your face.

At Signature Day Spa, dermaplaning is a precise, personalized treatment — not a service line. Tonya and her team take the same consultative approach here that defines everything at Signature: your skin is examined, your concerns are heard, and the treatment is customized to you. You leave glowing. Every single time.

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliation treatment in which a licensed esthetician uses a sterile, surgical-grade scalpel to gently and precisely remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair — commonly known as peach fuzz — from the face. The blade is held at a careful 45-degree angle and glided across the skin in smooth, controlled strokes. The process is entirely painless and takes approximately 30 minutes.

What’s revealed underneath is fresher, softer, more luminous skin — immediately. No redness, no recovery, no waiting for results to develop.

Why Professional Dermaplaning at Signature Day Spa?

The explosion of at-home dermaplaning tools has made professional dermaplaning more relevant than ever — not less. Licensed estheticians achieve results that simply cannot be replicated with consumer tools, for a straightforward reason: training, technique, and the quality of instruments matter enormously when a blade is involved.

At Signature Day Spa you’re in the hands of a licensed professional who has examined your skin, understands your sensitivities, and knows exactly where and how to work. You get the full benefit of the treatment — none of the risk of an imprecise home attempt.

The Benefits of Professional Dermaplaning

The immediate results are visible the moment you look in the mirror. But the benefits of professional dermaplaning go deeper than the glow!

  • Instantly smoother, brighter skin: Dead skin cells are the primary cause of a dull, uneven complexion. Removing them reveals the fresh, luminous skin that was underneath all along.
  • Better product absorption: Vellus hair and dead skin cells create a barrier that prevents your serums, moisturizers, and SPF from penetrating effectively. After dermaplaning, every product you apply works significantly harder.
  • Flawless makeup application: Makeup sits differently on dermaplaned skin. Foundation applies more evenly, blends more seamlessly, and photographs beautifully – making this a favorite pre-wedding and pre-event treatment.
  • Reduced appearance of fine lines and hyperpigmentation: By removing the surface layer where excess pigmentation and fine lines appear most visible, dermaplaning reveals more even-toned, youthful-looking skin beneath.
  • Smaller-looking pores: Vellus hair traps oil and debris in pores. Removing it leaves pores visibly cleaner and more refined.
  • Safe for most skin types: Including sensitive skin and darker complexions that may not tolerate more aggressive resurfacing treatments.
  • And about the peach fuzz growing back thicker; that’s a myth. Hair does not grow back darker or coarser after dermaplaning. Regrowth may briefly feel slightly different as it emerges, but it softens quickly. This is one of the most common questions we hear – and the answer is always the same: not true.

Dermaplane Glow Facial

Your session begins with a foaming papaya cleanser to gently prep the skin, followed by an enzyme exfoliation peel applied to the nose and décolleté — dissolving dead skin cells and refining texture before the main event. The Dermaplane Pro exfoliation then removes all surface dead skin cells and vellus hair with precision. Immediately following, an intensive vitamin-drenched cooling mask is applied to strengthen the skin’s immune response and lock in luminosity, followed by deep hydration cream and skin protectant. The result is skin that genuinely glows — visibly, measurably, immediately.  $275

How Often Should You Dermaplane?

Most guests find that dermaplaning every four to six weeks delivers the best ongoing results — timed to the natural skin cell renewal cycle. Your esthetician will advise the right frequency for your specific skin at your consultation.

Is Dermaplaning Right for You?

Dermaplaning is appropriate for most skin types and tones. It is not recommended for skin with active acne breakouts, as the blade can spread bacteria across the skin’s surface. If you have inflammatory skin conditions or are currently taking isotretinoin (Accutane), please let us know when you call — your esthetician will recommend the right alternative treatment for your skin.

Not sure if dermaplaning is right for you? Call us and ask! Our team genuinely loves talking skin and will give you an honest answer — no pressure, no upsell, just good advice.
